Located on the northern shore of Oahu is the town of Haleiwa.
This town has existed for quite sometime, and is known for its proximity to some of the best beaches in Oahu. Right outside of Haleiwa Town is Haleiwa Beach Park, which has a number of onshore facilities, like basketball courts and grassy areas for picnics. The waters here are particularly pleasant for swimming, kayaking, and surfing. During the winter months, the waves on this side of the shore become strong and engaging, resulting in many surfing competitions being held on its shores. Some of the surfing competitions include the women's events for the Triple Crown surfing competition. Many professional surfers from around the world flock here to earn a spot in the final events of the surfing season. Another beach in the area is Waimea Bay, which is calm during the summer months, which is great for swimming. During the winter months, it's a hot spot for surfing as well.
Haleiwa is definitely the epicenter for surfers and observers of this thrilling sport.
