Found near the northern shore of Maui is the town of Haiku.
Blessed with beautiful views of the ocean, this place has access to many wonderful parts of the sea as well. Haiku has access to a large assortment of beaches. Ho'okipa Beach Park is one of them, and is best known for its awe-inspiring waves. Because of weather changes throughout the day, the morning hours make it perfect for surfing, while the afternoon winds make it even better for wind-surfing. Those who don't know how to harness the waves can watch experts show off the skills on these waters. During the summer months, this beach has a different character, with calmer waters making it better for swimming and snorkeling. Other great beaches along the northern shore of Maui include Kanaha Beach Park, Waihe'e Beach, and Kite Beach. Each of these beaches are excellent for kite-surfing and wind-surfing, especially during the winter months. For a quieter and calmer beach away from the action of the sea, be sure to check out H.A. Baldwin Beach Park, which is safe swimmers of all levels.
