About Island of Kauai

The oldest of the Hawaiian Islands, Kauai is definitely the most majestic. Waimea Canyon, the “Grand Canyon of the Pacific,” is a brilliant red-rock chasm that calls this island home. In contrast to these colored rocks are the lush, tropical forests that blanket the mountains of Kauai in green, earning it the nickname of the “Valley Isle.”

Kauai is one of the wettest spots islands, in terms of both rain and ocean. While here, there are a number of water related activities you can participate in. If you enjoy kayaking, you can visit the Wailua River, one of Hawaii’s only navigable rivers. While on Kauai, there are a number of beautiful, pristine beaches that you can visit, including Poipu Beach and Lumahai Beach, used in the movie South Pacific. You may also want to visit Kilauea Beach as there is a historic lighthouse that calls these shores home.

Those who simply want to enjoy the views of Kauai may want to hike along the Na Pali coast. It is an 11-mile hike, and here you can see the clashing of waves against the sea cliffs. If looking to enjoy the view from afar, you can sail along the shore, or find a boat charter to do so.

You will never get bored on this island and its exquisite beauty. Just don’t forget to bring your camera.
