Kaimu Kalapana Puna
Along the Puna district of the Big Island in Hawaii is Kaimu Beach, one of the most interesting beaches on the island.
While the original beach was destroyed by the forces of nature, the new beach is still as exciting as its predecessor, offering a truly unique experience in the area of Kalapana, a great area to explore. Kaimu Beach is known for the black sand that is atypical of the white sand beaches prevalent around most of Hawaii's beaches. The black sand is made by sand mixing with small bits of lava forms this very distinctive sand. While the beach is certainly wonderful to look at, swimming and diving here is not advisable because of the strong currents. Kaimu Beach is part of Kalapana, which is known for the lava that flows through the redoing during some parts of the year. While in this area, visiting the lava sites that meander around the ocean will definitely give visitors a feel of the magnificent power that formed the Big Island.
Kapalana, and Kaimu Beach, are great places to visit throughout the year for the inspiring sights they have to offer.
