Kau District Vacation Rentals

The Kau District is located along the southeastern coast of the Big Island. This remote region has access to some of the Big Island’s most prominent features.

One point of interest while here is Ka Lae, also known as South Point. Not only is this area the southernmost point of the United States, but it also has beautiful views of the ocean. Be sure to visit Punaluu Beach as well, which features black sand created by volcanic eruptions. Visitors can swim and snorkel on this beach, and during certain times of the year, watch sea turtles nest on shore. Another great spot to enjoy swimming and snorkeling are the Kaholo Tide Pools, where the clear water is perfect for snorkeling and swimming. Be sure to head towards Mahana Beach as well, which features green sand colored by the mineral olivine. While in the area, visitors should also consider visiting Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, where visitors can walk around the rich environment that has been created by the active volcanoes in the area.

The Kau District is remote and isolated but displays a rugged and unique beauty that only can be seen in this part of the Big Island.
