If you are a beachnut, you will be squirrelly about this place. The “Shack on the Sand” is directly on the beach. You can drink your morning coffee inside or on the porch, either way you may see dolphins swim past. From May to October, Logger Head turtles lay their eggs in the middle of the night. The moon on the water is so bright that you can walk the beach without a flashlight and you may come upon one of these magnificent animals.
Located in Indian Rocks Beach, FL. Exactly 28 miles from the Tampa airport, this one bedroom condo has a queen size bed and a queen pull out couch to sleep four. All the comforts of home are supplied, including cookbooks, classics and paperbacks. There is a file of maps and places to go in the area, plus other guests leave notes and recommendations. You will be asked to sign the guest book, send a picture of your group and eat grouper.
Grouper is a delicious local fish that is served broiled, baked, battered and fried, or Cajun style. You may just wrap it in tin foil, season and put it on the grill. Pop a potato in the microwave; rip open a bag of salad and you will have a meal fit for a King. There may be a few people fishing on the beach, but they spend most of their time protecting their bait from nosey cranes and egrets. Your best bet for fresh seafood to cook will be Crabby Bill’s fish shop across the street. If you don’t even want to think about cooking there are at least 7 restaurants of all types within walking distance and hundreds more a short drive away.
This 8 unit condo building is called Port Holiday and was built and run as a motel from the 50’s to the 80’s. In the 80’s it was refurbished and sold as condo units. Small ground level buildings are quickly becoming a rarity in the area. The owners of Port Holiday realize what a treasure they have and the building, grounds and units are very well maintained. Just think, in a ground level unit the kids can take a nap and you can be on the beach just a few feet away.
