This extraordinary pretty private island in Lake Ontario extends over approx. 4.5 miles (7 km) long and up to 1.5 miles (2.5 km) wide. It features 10 miles (16 km) of diversified shoreline, 3 miles (5 km) of which are spectacular cliffs, some of which have up to 20 metres elevation. The island boats lay waiting in the picturesque natural harbour. Sandy beaches on the north coast and a wide cove on the northwest coast of the island are ideal for bathing activities.

Galloo Island can be considered a rather special "El Dorado" for lovers of nature, fishing enthusiasts and hunters. Herds of whitetail deer graze on the rambling meadows and live in the extensive wooded areas on the island. The vigilant stroller can easily observe many of the following animals: fox, beaver, racoon, pheasants, wild turkeys, Canada geese and various species of duck. Lake Ontario is renowned for its crystal clear and clean waters. Watch the large freight ships sail by the Gulf of St. Lawrence in the distance.

A large guest lodge awaits your visit. The house has 7 bedrooms (2 x king-size, 2 x queen-size, 3 x 2 twin beds). Each room has its own animal theme.

A spacious living area with fireplace exudes cosiness. The view from the terrace down to the nearby beach is magnificent. The kitchen has all mod. cons. including washing machine, dryer, etc. A smaller guesthouse some hundred metres away could also be utilised on request.
Dining:
Self-catering or full board, choose as you desire. On receipt of your shopping list, the island manager will stock the refrigerator before your arrival. Naturally, you can also bring along your own provisions. A chef and service personnel can be hired on request. Request a meal including game from the island and fresh fish!

Attractions and Activities

The waters surrounding the island provide superb fishing: salmon, lake and brown trout, small mouth bass and walleyed pike. For water sports activities, the following are available: 2 motorboats, jet ski, kayak. The quiet coves make the island a perfect destination for families with young children. Discover the island along its varied coastline or through the network of pathways. The island jeep and 4x4 quads are also available for use.

For hunting enthusiasts, Galloo Island is a very special "El Dorado". Prime whitetail deer (herds of up to approx. 450 animals) live on the island as well as pheasants, ducks and wild geese. The island manager is happy to assist and provide further information. Sackets Harbour is a pretty harbour town with a yacht club, shops and good restaurants.
