Rural Chilmark House

Property #1333: Description

Charming Cape style house in Chilmark, Massachusetts, the loveliest rural town on Martha's Vineyard island. House is very private at end of an unpaved road off of South Road. House has stone fireplace in large living room, beautiful large dining room with glass doors out to outdoor deck with distant views across field. Three bedrooms: large master bedroom (queen bed) with attached bath on second floor has beautiful sunrise and moon rise views; second floor bedroom (queen bed) with bath; smaller first floor bedroom (double bed) with bath. Large kitchen with washer and dryer alcove. House is a relaxed country home, not prissy. If you like hearing the birds and peepers chirp, quiet evenings at home, deer grazing in our field at sunrise and dusk, wild turkeys roaming through your yard, hearing the distant surf instead of traffic, then this is the place for you.

Chilmark's Lucy Vincent Beach and Squibnocket Beach are among the best in the world and available only to town residents or renters. Menemsha Beach is famous for incredible sunset watching and fishing off the rock jetty. Chilmark is away from the main towns and the tourist traffic and commercial activity on the island. Fantastic bicycling on winding roads or near-by bike path around state forest. The Chilmark general store - a great place for sandwiches, salads, coffee and the newspaper, and hanging out on the covered porch, is between the two main beaches, and a few fine restaurants are only about three to four miles away.

TV in living room, cable hook-up available. Cell reception at house (unlike many areas of the island.
