Playa del Carmen is a beautiful seaside town located on the tip of Mexico’s Yucatan peninsula. Originally a small fishing town, its ferry service to Cozumel quickly helped accelerate its popularity. Now, it is popular place to enjoy the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea without a hectic city life murmuring in the background.
The beach is a short walk from most of the hotels in this town. Part of the appeal are the underwater adventures waiting for those adventurous enough to explore them. Snorkeling and scuba diving are available among the many reefs that border the beach’s coastline. For the more adventurous, there is cenote diving. Cenotes are large sinkholes with rocky edges and are filled with groundwater.
A variety of tours are available around the Playa del Carmen area. These tours include dive and snorkeling tours, as well as horseback tours through the wildlife surrounding the area. If looking for another adventure, however, the ferry to Cozumel docks here. It’s an idea to consider, especially if you’re looking to maximize your time in this beautiful town.
